Categories of Water Damage

Category 1

Occurs when a water line, faucet, toilet tank, or drinking fountain leaks or breaks.

Water is not contaminated with debris or pathogens.

If not cleaned up quickly or efficiently, it can turn into a bigger problem.

Sometimes referred to as clean water damage.

Category 2

Sometimes referred to as grey water.

Has substances in it that may cause discomfort or illness if ingested.

Comes from sources such as washing machines, dishwashers, or toilets without urine or feces.

Category 3

Sometimes referred to ask unsanitary or black water.

Contains contaminants that are unclean and dangerous.

If ingested, this water could lead to serious illness or death.

Often comes from a sewer backup, toilet backup, or water that has become stagnant and full of bacteria growth.
